Catherine McEwan was brought up in Govanhill, Glasgow. At just 16, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Despite being frequently ill in the years that followed, Catherine was determined her family would lead as normal a life as possible and embraced every day fully. She lived for her two sons, Gary and Derek, who are a testament to her bravery, fighting spirit and positive attitude.
Her son Derek set up the Catherine McEwan Foundation in 2003 in memory of his mother, who died at the age of 38.
Our aim is simple – to try to make life a bit better for other people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.
