The Catherine McEwan Foundation Scholarship is an innovative and exciting opportunity for young people in Scotland living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and who are in, or entering, the senior phase of high school. Our scholarship was set up in 2019 when we teamed up with our fantastic colleagues at The Education Academy, Scotland (TEAS).
We recognised the need for our young people to have the opportunity for enhanced educational support and this scholarship does exactly that. It provides access to the highest quality revision and educational support, helping our scholars maximise their learning and chances of success in SQA courses and into further study or career pathways.
Being diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease can have a huge impact on young people, particularly their education. They can often miss out on learning and development opportunities at school due to low attendance or being unable to fully concentrate for the entirety of the school day.
The Catherine McEwan Foundation Scholarship (CMFS) is a fully funded programme which provides a solution for young people whose education is affected by IBD at this crucial stage in their life.
The scholarship is offered through a unique and pioneering collaboration between The Royal Hospitals for Children in Glasgow and Edinburgh, The Education Academy Scotland and of course, us here at The Catherine McEwan Foundation. It offers our young people living with IBD unlimited access to a highly successful and long-standing portfolio of support.
The Education Academy Scotland (TEAS) is Scotland’s premier tutoring school offering lessons, tuition and revision in SQA National 5 and Higher Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It has also recently added some advanced higher classes to the programme.
TEAS is an SQA Approved Centre and therefore offers full National Qualifications for adults or school-aged learners. All staff at TEAS are fully qualified GTCS-registered teachers who offer enhanced support and expert tuition in their respective subjects.

All students are provided with a wealth of learning materials and stationery for each National 5 or Higher class they attend. This applies to all tutoring classes and full qualification courses.
Constant online support is also offered to all of our students, so the support our tutors provide extends well beyond the Saturday morning class.
‘This has been the first recognition and support given to me to allow me to be where I want to be after my health affected absence from school. The level of teaching is great and in no way could me and my family of afforded this. With your support just now I’m confident I can go to university to pursue the course I want to.’
Your donation today will help us support our IBD community to live their lives to the full and be all they can be.
Thank you 💜
