Supporting patients and their families

Supporting patients and their families

“Access to specialist advice and peer-to-peer support is invaluable in helping patients and their families cope better and manage the challenges of living with Crohn’s or Colitis. That’s why we’re committed to investing in projects that give everyone access to the support they need when they need it.”

GIVING EASY ACCESS TO EXPERT ADVICE AND SPECIALIST SUPPORT

Funding towards the confidential helpline run by Crohn’s & Colitis UK is giving more patients a place to go for expert advice and specialist support when they need it.

We also enable the production of several publications and online information designed to help patients and their families, friends, support networks, teachers and healthcare professionals understand the disease better.
“Thank you very much for all this information. This has been most useful for myself and my daughter. I am now more aware of her condition and am just trying to take one day at a time…”
“Great booklet, wish it had been around when my person went through transition [to adult services]. Very supportive. A ‘must’ for young people – and their parents!”
“This is a vital read for anyone who comes into contact with a child with IBD.”

BUILDING SUPPORT NETWORKS AND EMPOWERING PATIENTS, FAMILIES AND CARERS

Every year we run family days with the support of Glasgow Children’s Hospital. The days are an opportunity for the whole family to find support from others who understand what they’re going through, learn more about managing the disease and discover new treatments.
